| I've always
had a fondness for mythology, and one of my favorite parables
is about Icarus and Daedalus, who made wings of wax and
feathers to escape prison in Crete. Icarus is so delighted
with his new power of flight that he forgets Daedalus' warning
and flies high into the sky toward the sun. The heat from
the sun melts the wax from his wings and he plunges into
the sea where he drowns. This expressionistic interpretation
observes Icarus in joyous flight, frozen in paint before
his fatal fall. Painted in oil on canvas board. |
